Privacy Policy

1. About the App

Petit Lecteur is an educational app designed to help children ages 3 to 7 learn to read in French. The app offers interactive exercises for letter, sound, and word recognition in a fun and safe environment.

2. Data We Collect

We collect a very limited amount of data, strictly necessary for the app to function:

• Parent's email address — used for creating and managing the parent account.
• Child's first name — used to personalize the learning experience.
• Progress scores — results from reading exercises to track the child's progress.
• Diagnostic data — in the event of a crash or technical error, information about the app state (device type, app version) and an anonymized internal session identifier are sent to Sentry (sentry.io), our error monitoring tool. This data is used solely to fix bugs.

3. Authentication

Parent account authentication is managed by Firebase Authentication (a Google service). Only the email address is used for identification. No passwords are stored directly by Petit Lecteur.

4. Data Storage

App data (children's first names and progress scores) is stored on secure servers using a PostgreSQL database. Data access is protected and limited to authenticated users only.

5. Advertising and Tracking

Petit Lecteur contains no advertising and does not use any third-party tracking or analytics tools. We do not collect any data for advertising or marketing purposes.

6. Data Sharing with Third Parties

We use two third-party technical providers, strictly necessary for the app to function:

• Firebase Authentication (Google) — manages parent account authentication.
• Sentry (sentry.io) — error monitoring. In the event of a crash, Sentry receives information about the app state and an anonymized internal session identifier.

No personal data (name, email address) is shared for advertising or commercial purposes.

7. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Petit Lecteur is designed for use by children, but accounts are created and managed exclusively by parents or legal guardians. By creating an account and adding a child profile, the parent gives explicit consent for the collection of the following data about their child:

• The child's first name
• Scores and results from reading exercises

No other personal data about the child is collected. Children cannot enter personal information within the app.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

Data is retained as long as the parent account is active. Parents can delete their account and all associated data (including children's profiles and data) at any time from the Settings screen within the app. Deletion is permanent and irreversible.
